Aaron Defazio announced on X on September 26 that he was starting at OpenAI as a Member of Technical Staff. He said he had moved to San Francisco for the role.
Defazio previously worked as a research scientist at Meta’s FAIR research group. His work includes Schedule-Free learning and D-Adaptation, methods that reduce the manual tuning needed to train AI models.
