Accelerated Understanding, founded by Anima Anandkumar and Benedikt Jenik, has publicly unveiled its approach to AI for physics. The company is training models that predict how physical systems evolve, with the goal of making engineering simulations and experiments faster and more useful.
The company website says its models work across multiple areas of physics and can suggest directions for improving a design, rather than only predicting an outcome. Anandkumar is also a professor at Caltech and previously led AI research at NVIDIA; Jenik has built large-scale machine-learning infrastructure and worked on self-driving technology.
Reuters reported that the pair continued developing the company after declining a proposal to help lead the Bezos-backed Project Prometheus.
