AMD has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire World Labs, the spatial-intelligence AI lab led by Fei-Fei Li. AMD values the all-stock transaction at approximately $8.2 billion.
World Labs builds models that generate, reconstruct and simulate interactive 3D environments from text, image and video inputs. AMD says the team will continue its model-research work after close, and Li is expected to join AMD as Executive Vice President and Chief Scientist, reporting to CEO Lisa Su.
The acquisition has been announced but has not yet closed; AMD expects it to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions.
