Bonnie Li announced on X that she had joined OpenAI as a Research Scientist. She previously spent nearly three years at Google DeepMind, where her work included Gemini, SIMA, and Genie.
Li’s personal site lists contributions to Gemini 3, SIMA 2, and Genie 2. These systems respectively advance general-purpose multimodal AI, agents that act in virtual worlds, and world models that generate interactive environments.
