Caitlin Kalinowski joins Anthropic after leaving OpenAI

Caitlin Kalinowski has joined Anthropic as a Member of Technical Staff working in research, according to her LinkedIn profile and X profile. Neither profile gives a precise start date.

Kalinowski previously built and led OpenAI’s robotics and consumer-hardware organization. She announced on X in March that she had resigned, citing concerns about boundaries around domestic surveillance and autonomous weapons following OpenAI’s agreement with the U.S. government. Her current LinkedIn entry dates the OpenAI role through August, so the exact effective transition date remains unclear.

Before OpenAI, Kalinowski led AR and VR hardware teams at Meta, helping scale the organization behind products including Quest, Rift and the Orion augmented-reality glasses. Earlier at Apple, she worked on the MacBook and Mac Pro product lines.
