Bloomberg reported on August 25 that Chris Malone, OpenAI’s Head of Data Centers, had left the company. An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed that Malone was no longer with the organization. No next role has been announced.
Malone joined OpenAI in March 2025 after senior data-center engineering roles at Meta and Google. At OpenAI, he helped translate the computing demands of frontier AI systems into the power, cooling, hardware and facility designs behind its large-scale infrastructure buildout.
