Microsoft appoints Frank Nagle as its first Chief AI Economist

Frank Nagle has joined Microsoft as the company's first Chief AI Economist, according to an announcement on LinkedIn by Microsoft Chief Data Scientist Juan M. Lavista Ferres. Nagle is based in the AI Economy Institute within Microsoft's AI for Good Lab.

He will develop research to help business leaders, policymakers, and individuals understand how AI is reshaping productivity, firms, labor markets, education, and economic opportunity. Nagle will remain a Research Scientist at MIT's Initiative on the Digital Economy. He previously served as Advising Chief Economist at The Linux Foundation, studying the economic impact of open-source software and AI.
