Demis Hassabis becomes Google DeepMind chair as Koray Kavukcuoglu steps up to lead

Demis Hassabis announced on X that he is becoming Chair of Google DeepMind and Chief Scientist of Alphabet. He said the change will let him focus on long-term AI strategy and scientific breakthroughs, including his work at Isomorphic Labs.

Koray Kavukcuoglu, previously Google DeepMind's CTO, is stepping up as Senior Vice President to lead the organization alongside Josh Woodward and its executive team. Kavukcuoglu also remains Google's Chief AI Architect.
