Justin Curl announced on X that he has joined Anthropic as a member of technical staff on its new AI & Rule of Law team.
The team is examining how to ensure AI agents follow the law, limit AI-enabled concentrations of power such as mass surveillance or coups, and use AI to strengthen democracy and empower citizens. Curl previously advised Cognition on AI policy and has written about AI governance, China policy, algorithmic discrimination, and the effect of AI on legal services.
