Matt Clifford announced on LinkedIn that he is joining Anthropic as Managing Director, International Affairs. Based in London, he will lead the company’s work with governments outside North America, including across Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Clifford said countries should have a meaningful say in how AI is built and used, and argued that industry, governments and civil society must work together on the decisions shaping its impact. He joins the team led by Anthropic President of Global Affairs Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar.
He will remain Chair of the UK’s Advanced Research + Invention Agency and Co-founder and Chair of Entrepreneur First.
