Mirendil formally announced its launch on X with a mission to accelerate science and technology by democratizing frontier AI R&D.
Cofounder Behnam Neyshabur framed the company around self-accelerating AI R&D: systems that help scientists, businesses, and labs own and improve their own AI infrastructure rather than depending on a small number of frontier labs.
Neyshabur named Harsh Mehta, Shayan Salehian, and Tara Rezaei as fellow cofounders. Mirendil says its founding team includes 20 researchers and engineers from frontier institutions including Anthropic, xAI, Google DeepMind, and OpenAI.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Mirendil raised a $200 million seed round led by a16z and Kleiner Perkins, followed by a major investment from NVIDIA.
