OpenAI has acquired Orchestra Bio, whose AI agents help biotech and pharmaceutical teams coordinate drug-development programs. The team and technology will join Rosalind, OpenAI’s models and tools for life-sciences research.
Orchestra helps teams track studies, connect plans across departments and external partners, and see how a problem in one activity could delay others. Its focus is the operational work needed to advance a potential medicine.
The team includes founder and CEO Ashoka Rajendra and CTO Andy Xu, both identified in 8VC’s announcement. Rajendra lists his OpenAI role as Life Sciences, starting in October 2026. Xu lists his OpenAI role as Member of Technical Staff, also starting in October 2026.
OpenAI announced the acquisition on October 20, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.
