Paul Christiano has joined the OpenAI Foundation Board and its Safety and Security Committee, OpenAI announced. He will also serve as a non-voting observer on the OpenAI Group PBC board.
Christiano brings experience spanning AI alignment research, independent safety testing, and government standards work. OpenAI said he will recuse himself from OpenAI-related matters and model evaluations in his separate role as a senior technical advisor at the Center for AI Standards and Innovation.
