Paul Christiano announced on the AI Alignment Forum that he has returned to the Alignment Research Center as executive director. He said his main focus will be advancing ARC's effort to explain how neural networks behave and use those explanations to detect and address misalignment.
Christiano is stepping back from his full-time leadership work at the Center for AI Standards and Innovation, while continuing there as a special government employee one day a week. He described the ARC role as his primary focus.
