Sriram Krishnan to leave his White House AI role

Sriram Krishnan announced that he will leave his role as the White House's senior policy advisor for AI at the end of June 2026. After a break, he said he plans to work on "helping tackle some of the large challenges facing America on AI" and to build institutions toward that end, without yet naming a specific next role.

Reflecting on roughly 18 months in the administration, he cited among his accomplishments architecting and publishing the American AI Action Plan, AI acceleration partnerships to help the U.S. AI stack compete globally, the National AI Policy Framework executive order, and advocacy for American AI with allies — including AI summits in France and India. He thanked President Trump and David Sacks, with whom he worked closely.
